ECB Balance Sheet Falls Below €8tn Ahead of Christmas

ECB’s balance sheet (or total assets) decreased by €491.7 bn (-5.80%, Δ 1 week) to a total of €7,985.5 bn and the lowest level in over 17 months (since 16.07.2021) shortly before Christmas. It is also the largest decrease since the beginning of the time series 24 years ago in since 01.01.1999.

Rather than spending on Christmas gifts the week’s voluntary TLTRO-repayments were obviously the reason for this.
