Focus on Fees
Rising bank fees have been in focus for quite some time. We have therefore dived deeply into recently published Bundesbank data and found the following:
- 2016 was no spectacular year for fee increases. Indeed, they have decreased yoy
- Savings and Cooperative banks have increased fees since 2010 already
- Savings banks have increased net fee income in 2016 by €195m or 4% yoy, equivalent to less than €4 per customer
- Net fee income of Cooperative banks was flat yoy in 2016
- The worst is yet to come?!
